Throughout his career Sergio Ramos has collected a total of 17 red cards but in his latest endeavor when playing against Galatasaray, the head coach of Real Madrid Carlo Ancelotti was furious at the Spanish defender when he was expelled from the match.

This is starting uproar around the world of football with the future of Ramos being uncertain as he wanted a new contract some months ago but was later denied it.

Chelsea and Manchester City are following his situation closely as they are interested in signing him just in case he does exit the Spanish club.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side finished the group stages of the Champions League in 2nd place close behind Bayern Munich and now in the last 16 teams remaining in the European competition they are poised to face off against teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or PSG but Pellegrini is confident about his team despite who might be their potential opponents.

“Spain has strong teams, Barcelona and Real Madrid especially. But also Atletico are having a very good season,”

“I am not afraid of who we are going to play in the next round, though. It is not a major problem. People might say it’s difficult for us to play against Barcelona, Real, Atletico – or PSG are another we could face. But all of them would not be happy to play against us’’.

“I trust this squad so I hope it can continue in the Champions League. It’s important to be strong mentally. Also it’s important to be a winning, ambitious team. Mixing good players with ambition is the best way to try to win’’. Manuel Pellegrini said.

Michael Laudrup and Peter Schmeichel are regarded as some of the best Danish footballers ever to grace the game. Michael Laudrup made his name at Barcelona as an attacking and creative playmaker, while Schmeichel is best known for his time at Manchester United when he won numerous titles by protecting United’s goal. Laudrup has since came into management and is now the manager of Premier league outfit Swansea. He did extremely well in his first season at the club by getting them to the Europa league and also their first trophy in the form of a League cup.

The club spent big money on players like Wilfried Bony in the summer in order to manage between both competitions – Premier league and Europa league. Even though they have been doing well in European competitions this season by getting results like 3-0 against Spanish giants Valencia, the league form has not been great. Schmeichel has said that he thinks Swansea have a great team that could help them go all the way to the final of the Europa league. The last time a British team was seen at this stage of the competition was in 2010 when Fulham reached the final.

Swansea are 15th in the Premier league after seven matches having taken just one point per game.

“Why not? Michael is one of the best football players this world has seen, and the results… have been incredible. I think for what he did last season, he would definitely [have] been in one of the big clubs’ sights. But if you stop producing results, if you stop putting your name out there for what you achieve with your team, people stop looking at you. So for Michael to get to that point, he has to improve with Swansea all the time,” said Schmeichel.

Manchester United is likely to make a second bid for the Everton defender Leighton Baines. The Red Devils had made a bid of 10 million Pounds a few weeks back which was straight away rejected by the Toffees. The Merseyside club wants 20 Million Pounds for their star defender.

According to the reports, United’s new bid is not going to meet Everton’s demands either. The Red Devils are likely to increase their bid only by a small margin.

Baines is currently training with the Everton squad. He must have been aware that he is on the radar of Manchester United and it’s hard to imagine what would be going through his mind. At Old Trafford, he would get the opportunity to fight for the Premier League title and also, he would end up playing Champions League football. But, at the moment, he can’t be expected to request for transfer until the Red Devils’ bid moves closer to Everton’s demand.

The newly appointed Everton manager, Roberto Martinez, wants to extend the contract of Baines as soon as possible and he has had the backing of the owners as well.

In one of his interviews a week back, Martinez had said that Baines is a very important part of his plans and he wants him to stay at Goodison Park.

The Everton boss said, “Leighton is a superstar. He is probably the best left-back going around in England at the moment. He is very important for the club’s future. We want him to stay here for many years.”

When asked about Manchester United’s interest in Baines, Martinez said, “I am not one of those managers who get pissed off when the clubs enquiry about their best players. I always think if the clubs are showing interest in your players, it’s good. It shows that your players are progressing well.”
